2002 Saigon, Vietnam, while her mother is expecting her second child, 10-year-old Thi befriends young club waitress Ngoc who has just moved in to tenant in her family′s house. As their friendship grows, she finds out that Ngoc is an undisclosed sex worker. Meanwhile, the story is observed by an art book showing female nude paintings by Tamara de Lempicka stolen from a bookstore.
