PRE-FEATURE BEFORE THE CALL
Set in an empty corporate office over the holidays, caught in the stream follows Elaine, a Chinese woman in her late 20s, as she navigates a life predicated on expectations: a modest marriage, full-time employment, and an eventual child.
As the day unfolds, Elaine moves through a series of routine tasks - answering emails, watering office plants - while fielding calls from her Caucasian desk mate, Simon, and her more traditional Chinese husband. In the silence, she finds herself quietly questioning the life she’s built as she tests the boundaries that have been set out for her, creating soft, but defiant ripples in the outlines of her life.
