You’ll usually find Emily painting a wall, or at least covered in paint. She is a muralist working out of Austin and Houston, who uses spray paint to create large-scale art. Her work typically features vividly colored animals and portraits, which she paints to express a thought, idea, emotion, or state of being.
When asked why she was excited to work with AAAFF, Emily said, “As an Asian American, I can relate strongly to having this unique cultural identity. My life has definitely included struggles of reconciling Eastern and Western traditions, and I am so proud of my heritage and of who I am. AAAFF does remarkable work in supporting Asian American filmmakers, so I jumped at the opportunity to work with them. It’s my part of helping others who are kind of like me, and helping put out more ideas, creativity, and inspiration into the world.” Thanks, Emily!
